While addressing contemporary challenges, Forum Americas leads debates and new initiatives in support of socioeconomic reforms in the region, particularly, it fosters complementary processes for institutional moder- nization. Furthermore, through com- prehensive multi-sector endeavors, the Forum advances policies and projects that secure the inclusion of marginalized social sectors.

“Knowledge should be considered an active commodity, not a passive asset. It is most valuable when shared, not hoarded.” Lessons drawn from the experiences of inter-generational leaders involved in the Forum’s programs such as the Contract of Genera- tions and projects such as the Americas Agenda 2020 national projects, give rise to an unparalleled body of knowledge, which may, in turn, be utilized for the creation of new and more effective models of leadership. Recognizing, however,  that there are no universal answers, the Forum will also enrich this body of knowledge with debates and analysis and at the local level.

The Forum’s aim is not to seek or suggest generic solutions, but rather to furnish emerging leaders with the skills, knowledge and vision needed to develop their own answers to the challenges facing them, particularly those arising from globalization. Leadership, Governance and Competitive- ness) To this end, the Forum will provide leaders with case studies of successful experiences in economic development, institutional modernization and competitiveness from the Latin American and Caribbean regions and from around the world.

Effective governance requires a high level of voluntary civic participation in the design and development of public policies. The Forum supports the generation of new initiatives that strengthen the dialogue between the public and the private sectors and the capacity for collaboration among governments, businesses, non-governmental organizations and academy. In so doing, the Forum creates an opportunity for representatives of each of these sectors to collectively promote values, share responsibilities and lead concrete projects that go beyond traditional state action.
